9 Days tour from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga
Day 1: Transferring from Fes-Saiss Airport
Transfer to your accommodation (a riad/hotel).
Day 2: Accompanying a local guide in Fes city to explore the city
After breakfast, your journey will start at 9:00 am, accompanied by a local city guide. You’ll be visiting many interesting places. Begin with exploring one of the oldest living Medinas in Morocco and touring the Medina souks (markets). Next, the gateway of the royal palace. Then, Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque of the 9th century and Al-Qarawiyyin University which is the oldest building in the world .Last but not least, it’s our last destination before lunch; the tomb of the city founder “Moulay Idriss 2”. Lunch will be held in a traditional restaurant in the old Medina. After having lunch, we drive towards the Najjarine Fountain, and then the Batha Museum. On The way back to the Riad/hotel, we will stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the whole city.
Day 3: Excursion to Chefchaouen and come back to fes in the evening
This day, we’re having an interesting excursion! At 8:00 am, after breakfast, we will depart towards Chefchaouen city; about 3 hours and half driving. Chefchaouen, or Chaouen, was founded in 1741. It’s a vacay destination for most Moroccans due to several factors. Besides its location in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco, this decent blue town is known for its unusual architecture and its astonishing views and distinctive atmosphere. We will be also exploring its exceptional local handicraft. Then we return to Fes. We are expected to arrive in Fes around 7:00 pm.
Day 4: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga
After breakfast, we will pick you up at 08:00 am from your riad/hotel. Then drive south to Ifran (you’ll be discovering one of the typical cities for its cold weather throughout the year and its distinctive architecture), and then Azrou forest (through the middle Atlas Mountains) , we will stop at the cedar forest to see the Barbarian apes in their natural habitat. Then we go to Midelt city; the city of apples. We have lunch. Afterward we go through the Tizi-Ntalghemt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges that were primarily shaped as a result of volcanoes, and through the Ziz valley. We head directly to Merzouga Sahara Desert through Erfoud town (desert gateway) till you get to the hotel in Merzougua.
Day 5: off-road desert tour - local Nomadic families - The black desert
Today, we will have a big tour around Erg-Chebbi sand dunes, we will start our off-road desert adventure by visiting a village of the dark skin people (Khamlia village), they are of various African origins. They got a band composed of 5 or more people playing Gnawa music by different instruments. In that village we’re going to have lunch (Berber Pizza). Then our destination will be in the village of the Mines, then the local nomadic Berber families who still live in the desert. Afterwards, we drive to the black desert (volcanic stones). We will go back to Merzouga to take an hour’s quad bike drive on the dunes. Later, you’ll be carried by camels to an equipped camp in the
middle of the golden dunes that is flattering to both sunset and sunrise. Then you will go on foot to the top of a high dune for sandboarding and enjoy the sunset. Dinner is served inside a Berber tent. During the night, there will be a band that drums beautifully around a lit fire
Day 6: Camp - Merzouga - Todgha Gorges - Dades Valley
You got to wake up early to go up the dunes to enjoy the fantastic view of the sunrise, as well as taking fabulous pictures. Then you’ll be carried by camels in a return to the hotel for taking a shower and having breakfast. Then we continue our way to our next destination, Ouarzazate city by passing through Alnif, Tazzarine, Nkob, and the stunning Daraa Valley. Concerning our night, it will be spent in a hotel/riad involves dinner and breakfast.
Day 7: Dades valley - Qalaaat MGouna -Ouarzazate - Ait ben HaddouKasbah - high Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
We go through the beautiful Dades Valley, Boumalne, and visit Qalaate Magouna, Rose Valley. Then we make a stop in a rose cooperative to see how various products are made of roses such as shampoo, soap, and perfume, Then we continue to Ouarzazate; the Hollywood of Africa. Lunch will take place at the famous “Ait ben Haddou Kasbah”; the UNESCO World Heritage. La Kasbah is surrounded by a protective high thick wall against external attacks with many towers in. After visiting Kasbah we continue through the majestic Tizi-N-Tichka passing over the High Atlas Mountains, we will stop to enjoy the impressive views and visit the Argan oil cooperative. We will arrive in the red city of Marrakech by evening.
Day 8: exploring Marrakech with a local city guide
On a half-day tour in Marrakech accompanying a professional local city guide, you will visit the Menara; a surrounded pool. The surrounding flowerbeds and other fields around are being watered by the irrigation system. The sightseeing tour will include several impressive sights such as the Koutoubia Mosque, Majorelle Gardens, Bahia Palace, and Dar Si Said Museum of jewelry. Optional lunch will be in the Medina followed by a walk through the colorful souks (markets) of Marrakech. Then you will have a free evening to enjoy the sunset overlooking the exciting Jemaa El Fna Square from a terrace of a café. (Night in riad)
Day 9: Transfer to Menara Airport of Marrakech (parting day)
After a deep relaxation in the riad. We will pick you up from the riad to the airport.
